Orchestra

     The North Orchestra, comprised of approximately 30 string players, performs for a variety of concerts and events throughout the year. In the fall, the group tours our feeder schools. In December, they perform at the North District Instrumental Music Festival, combining with the middle school orchestras at Evans and Oak Hill to form a massed string group.

 

    

     Each year, several students are selected to the EVSC Honors Orchestra, which rehearses through the winter and presents a concert in the spring. Solo and Ensemble events occur in January at the district level and February at the state level.  Other opportunities include the Indiana All-State Orchestra and EPYO.         

     Mrs. Karen Renner is our String Specialist.  Mrs. Renner visits class on a rotating schedule.

Select orchestra members begin preparation during Second Semester for the Musical held in March.  Select string players are also chosen for the Northern Lights, North High School's unique vocal jazz orchestra.  The orchestra performs at two major concerts in the North Performing Arts Center with the Concert Bands in the spring.
